Recently, Taicang Timber & Wood Products Distribution Association(TTDA) has become the supporting organization of the 6th China Global Wood Trade Conference (GWT China) in order to jointly promote the healthy development of the timber industry. Furthermore, the association will promote communication and cooperation between the timber industry in Taicang and wood traders, processors as well as end manufacturing enterprises at home and abroad through largely participating in the 6th GWT conference.      

In 2012, the 2nd China Global Wood Trade Conference was held in Taicang. The conference was successfully held  with the help of TTDA, which enabled the participants to have a better understanding of the rapid development of trade, circulation and manufacturing of timber and wood products in Taicang and its surrounding areas. After the conference,  more than 300 representatives visited the surrounding areas.

Taicang has always occupied an important position in China timber industry. In the first half year of 2016, the volume of wood entering China has reached 42,489,500 cubic metres, of which the volume at Taicang port has reached 5,809,900 cubic metres, accounting for about 13% of total imports of timber in China. 

Taicang Port is located in the interchange between the Yangtze River and the sea with 38.8 km shoreline of Yangtze River as well as 12.5 meters deep water channel, which is the only natural port in Jiangsu province and rare in China. Since entering the new century , the government has regarded Taicang Port as an important part of Shanghai International Shipping Center, main container port as well as Jianghai united transit hub port to ensure the development of open economy along the Yangtze River Delta and in Jiangsu province.

Taicang Timber & Wood Products Distribution Association was estabilished in the end of the year of 2011, aiming at adapting the rapid  development of  timber import business of Taicang Port and the timber industry in Taicang. Recent years, via the function of communication & negotiation, formulating policy & regulations, setting up standards & rules, providing professional guidance and policy negotiation, TTDA devoted itself to assisting the government to develop a regulated and ordered timber industry.

The 6th GWT China conference will be held  in Wuhan from 13rd to 14th in September of 2016, facilitating and promoting information exchange and business cooperation for global wood trade community, it provides a platform for timber import & export enterprises at home and abroad. The coming of the delegation of Taicang not only contributes to deepening and expanding the connection between resource oriented enterprises and manufacturing enterprises, but also promotes the cooperation and the development of international timber trade.
